Dog Days of Summer
I don't have to tell you it is hot. I've been staying in the air conditioning in the house or at school and you can tell it from my garden. The water grass took over so this a.m. while it was only moderately hot, I pulled weeds, picked a pepper and filled the bird feeders, although I think the birds have given up on us and only the squirrels remain. Speaking of squirrels, they ate all of our tomatoes while we were at Bennett Springs. ARghhh! We have some green ones on the vines, but I don't know if we'll ever get to taste any of our efforts. I'm not the only one, however. Everyone is complaining about the squirrels. There was even a column in our homeowners association newsletter about them. No one had any magic cure though.
Last week we went camping and Jim fished. It wasn't as hot, only up to 90 degrees. I read three books and knitted. Went into Lebanon and bought some clothes at the outlet mall. It was just nice to get away instead of staring at the same old scenery.
When we got back I started going to my new school and getting my room ready for the first day. This week has been filled with meetings and my head is just swimming, learning all about the expectations and rules of a new place.
Today I am cleaning house, doing laundry, etc. so I can focus on school next week. Better hop to it!
