Old Friends

Is there any thing better than a favorite old t-shirt? I have one that is 16 years old. It's purple, which is probably the only purple thing I own. It's from University of N. Iowa. I decided I needed to buy a remembrance of my college days in Iowa before we moved. I went to the book store and purchased the shirt, never suspecting I'd be wearing it to paint in, sleep in and lounge in all these years later. It's kind of like comfort food. It's 100% cotton that gets softer with each wash. It's big enough that it doesn't bind and goes great with any pattern of lounge pants. I have one other shirt that is just as comforting, if not more. It's from 1994 and says so on the shirt. I try not to wear it in public, but when I'm staying in, it's the best. It's gray and I got it while I was taking the Greater Kansas City Writing Workshop at UMKC. The front says "Writing to the Beat of a Different Drummer" and the back says GKCWW 1994. I have noticed several pinpoint holes, but I'm keeping it until it won't stay on any longer. Jim has an old Navy shirt from 1999 and refuses to give it up. It's kind of cool to think that we are wearing clothes from the last century! Hurray for comfort shirts!
