For Love of a Good Book
I have been blessed this summer with the time to read for pleasure once again. In my former job, I was always so tired I would just crawl into bed without turning on the light and my reading took a back seat. Today I finished 2 books-one nonfiction and one fiction. The nonfiction one, a true crime!, received an A and the fiction one a C. Something about Christianity thrown into a light chick lit book just doesn't do it for me. I almost put it down when I saw the subthread, but decided to give it a chance. Needless to say, it was not a memorable book, but I did finish it. I pickedup Oprah's book for the summer that was waiting for me at the local library and look forward to beginning it after dinner. I still have the 8th Janet Evanovich book to read, and 2 others waiting on the stereo cabinet. I know everyone else is devouring JE's thirteenth book this summer, but I can only read about one every summer and I didn't discover her until about 8 years ago. I usually read a classic during summer break, but I haven't started one yet. Maybe I'll read a Jane Austen book or Middlemarch, or Death in a Family. Whatever strikes my fancy, I'll pickup. We have a camping trip planned in late July and I usually get a lot of reading done then if we don't go with other people. Hurray for summer reading!
